Clarksville Academy Football Forfeits Week 3 Game Against Grace Christian Academy

Clarksville Academy has made the decision to forfeit its Week 3 TSSAA football game, which was scheduled against Grace Christian Academy in Franklin. The forfeit, confirmed by athletic director Sean Wilson, is primarily due to a combination of player injuries, extreme heat conditions, and a limited roster availability.

This marks the second instance this season where Clarksville Academy has been impacted by a forfeit. In their Week 1 matchup, the Cougars were set to face Hunters Lane, who forfeited due to insufficient player numbers. Consequently, Clarksville Academy took on Jo Byrns on August 21 but suffered a significant defeat, losing 42-0.

The upcoming game against Grace Christian Academy was categorized as a non-region contest, which may have implications for the team's overall standings but is not critical for their regional playoff aspirations. In their previous outing, Clarksville Academy faced Fort Campbell in Week 2, where they were again unable to secure a victory, falling 44-0.

Despite these challenges, Wilson expressed a commitment to the program's future, stating, "Player safety and well-being remain our highest priorities. Our commitment to the strength and growth of our football program is unshakeable, and we fully intend to complete the remainder of our 2026 schedule as soon as our team can safely return to the field." This statement underscores the school’s focus on ensuring that their players are healthy and able to compete effectively.

This season, Clarksville Academy is operating with a notably small roster of just 17 players, which has contributed to their struggles on the field. The team is scheduled to face Nashville Christian in Week 4 on September 11. This matchup will mark their first region contest of the season and will be crucial as they seek to build momentum moving forward.

As the Cougars navigate through this challenging season, their resolve to finish the schedule reflects a determination to maintain the integrity of their football program and provide their players with the opportunity to compete. The upcoming weeks will be pivotal for Clarksville Academy as they aim to regroup and work towards improving their performance on the field.
