Clarksville Academy has announced the forfeit of its Week 3 TSSAA football matchup against Grace Christian Academy, originally scheduled for Friday in Franklin. The decision was made due to a combination of player injuries, extreme heat, and a limited roster, which has left the team with only 17 players available this season.
Athletic director Sean Wilson confirmed the forfeit to The Leaf-Chronicle on Wednesday, marking the second time this season that Clarksville Academy has been impacted by a forfeited game. In the season opener, their Week 1 opponent, Hunters Lane, was unable to field a team, leading to a rescheduled game against Jo Byrns on August 21, where Clarksville Academy suffered a heavy defeat, losing 42-0.
The game against Grace Christian Academy was classified as a non-region contest, which means it does not affect the team's standing in the regional rankings. However, it still represents a setback for a program that is already facing challenges this season. In their previous outing, Clarksville Academy lost to Fort Campbell with a score of 44-0, further highlighting the difficulties the team has encountered.
Despite these challenges, Wilson expressed a commitment to the program's future, stating, "Player safety and well-being remain our highest priorities. Our commitment to the strength and growth of our football program is unshakeable, and we fully intend to complete the remainder of our 2026 schedule as soon as our team can safely return to the field."
