Colin Cowherd, host of FS1's "The Herd," responded to remarks made by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow after the team's joint practice with the Chicago Bears that he's manifesting a Super Bowl season in 2026.

"I don't feel sorry for a lot of pro athletes," Cowherd said on the show. "Then there's Joe Burrow. I feel bad for him. … One play from beating the stacked L.A. Rams (in Super Bowl 56). And yet they can't do anything right. Since he joined the Bengals, worst run game in the NFL. Since he joined the Bengals, the average offensive line 27th. Colin, what about the defense? No, that's second worst. Everything's awful. The cheapest owner. The poorest owner. If you look under scouting, there's only four … listed as scouts. It's just not fair."

"They don't spend money, and they're only winning by track meet," Cowherd continued. "In the offseason, he goes to Europe, and he gets into fashion. And I think that's a protective measure, a protective mechanism. Because he is so obsessed with football. … He's like, 'You know what? I'm not gonna sit in Ohio all offseason, and be bummed out.' I'm gonna go have a good time in the offseason. … And I think a lot of that is a protective mechanism to shield him from the some of the frustrations of this franchise."

In 2025, Cowherd said Burrow "at some point will demand to be traded" by the Bengals.
