Now that Dennis Schroder is playing for the Charlotte Hornets, he will be seen as one of the team's leaders. He has been in the NBA for a long time, and he has played for an eye-popping number of teams. However, he remains tapped into what is happening in German basketball.

He has been talking for a while about incoming Hornets rookie Hannes Steinbach as a top prospect. Now, they are teammates on the Hornets, which is a big positive for both players because Schroder can have a mentor-student relationship with Steinbach, who will be with him every day.

As the star player of the German national team, Schroder has been tapped into the youth setup. That is why he is excited to see Steinbach because he has been aware of the youngster for a long time. The 20-year-old power forward could be a great fit with the Hornets, especially with his successful season with the Washington Huskies.

Steinbach seems to be one of the Hornets' most promising players in the long-term future. He is a rock-solid big man who can rebound and be an imposing presence in the paint. The 20-year-old might not be the best scorer yet, but he definitely has the potential to be a star player.

With Schroder on the Hornets, Steinbach can feel at home playing alongside a compatriot. It also helps that the veteran point guard is a big fan of Steinbach, which is a good sign for the future because he will have a mentor like Schroder who can also speak his native language.

"There are so many. Hannes Steinbach was drafted #14. He is very strong, very young... He is one of the top, top, top prospects right now," Schroder said about Steinbach in the OMR Podcast.

Schroder will want to have a big season with the Hornets as one of their top guards. His leadership will also factor in as the team is focused on building on a young duo in Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel. Apart from that, his presence will be quite valuable for Steinbach's development.
