The Miami Dolphins released their first depth chart of 2026 on Tuesday as the team prepares for Friday’s preseason opening game against the Washington Commanders. The depth chart came with some surprises, highlighted a few ongoing position battles, and gave all of us a first “unofficial” look at how the team may stack up when the regular season rolls around next month.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel’s David Furones took a look at the released depth chart and broke down the position battles, especially the fight for starting roles at linebacker and defensive tackle.
Two starting jobs are highlighted as still being in the balance through the remainder of training camp.
For one, linebacker and rookie second-round pick Jacob Rodriguez is listed as a co-first-teamer with veteran Tyrel Dodson for the middle linebacker role next to All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
Also splitting a first-team slot are second-year defensive tackles Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips. Grant was the first-round pick in 2025, while Phillips was a fifth-rounder, but Phillips ended up starting as a rookie. Veteran Zach Sieler is solidified in his starting defensive tackle status, with Zeek Biggers backing him up on the depth chart.
