Eintracht comfortably reach round two

Eintracht Frankfurt ran riot at the Grotenburg Stadion in the DFB-Pokal first round, beating SC St. Tönis 11-0 in their first competitive fixture of 2026/27.

Three full debuts Adi Hütter had to make do without Nnamdi Collins (back problems), Hugo Larsson and Ritsu Doan (both with muscle issues) against fifth-tier side St. Tönis, but summer signings Otávio and Raphael Onyedika as well as winter arrival Keita Kosugi were all handed their full competitive debuts for Eintracht.

Early goals Four divisions separate St. Tönis and Eintracht in the German league pyramid – and that quickly became apparent out on the pitch. The Eagles dominated from the outset and took the lead when Jonathan Burkardt headed home Can Uzun’s corner after only four minutes. Robin Koch then got on the end of another Uzun corner six minutes later to double Eintracht’s early advantage.Ten-goal half-time lead Seven minutes after that, Burkardt fed Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab, who fired low into the left-hand corner to make it 3-0. Eintracht were running riot and ended up going into half-time with a remarkable 10-goal advantage, with Burkardt (29’, 41’), Uzun (34, 36’) both scoring twice and Elias Baum (44’), Younes Ebnoutalib (45’+1) and Mario Götze (45’+5) all getting their names on the scoresheet.

Chaibi makes it 11The Eagles took their foot off the accelerator in the second half and were less of a threat in the final third, despite dominating possession against their lower-league opponents. They did manage to increase their lead, though, with Farès Chaibi (87’) netting late on to complete an 11-0 victory.

First-team bowsTo cap a highly satisfying evening for the Eagles, Malik Pimpong (for Burkardt) and Jeremiaha Maluze (for Koch) were both brought on for their senior Eintracht debuts (68’) as Hütter’s team comfortably reached the next round of the DFB-Pokal.
