Electronic Arts signs the Bundesliga to a multi-year deal worth €250 million

According to a report by Sport Bild (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia), the Bundesliga signed a seven-year contract with Electronic Arts or EA for the licensing rights to the teams and players of the league:

The Bundesliga has signed a new partnership deal with Electronic Arts (EA) for the next 7 years. The total value of the deal is around €250m. The 36 clubs were notified today. This means the game will feature accurate images of the club, its players, the logos, and everything else in between; in the case of this deal, all 36 teams in Germany’s top two leagues will feature on the game.

If a club isn’t licensed on the game, then it uses a default club name and logo that alludes to the real-life team that it’s based on. Historically speaking, the affected teams are mostly Italian clubs: Piemonte Calcio (Juventus), Milano FC (AC Milan), Lombardia FC (Inter Milan), Napoli FC (Napoli), and Bergamo Calcio (Atalanta).

As an avid FC Mobile (previously called FIFA Mobile) player, this is a big thing because it means I can keep on using Bayern players in my team. I’ve played the game continuously (for the most part) since its release in 2016, and the experience has taught me the ins and outs of the game, meta players and tactics, and a lot of the nitty gritty stuff.

Enough with the shameless plugging, this is a good deal for Bayern and the other 35 clubs in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga even if the game severely underrates the Bavarians.
