Europa excitement to drive us onFamily matchday at home to Austria Vienna

With our spot in the UEFA Europa League secured, our full focus now shifts to the upcoming home match in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. A real highlight awaits us when we host FK Austria Vienna on Sunday 30 August at 19:00 CEST with the match all about our Family Matchday.

What is there to look forward to? An extensive programme of activities on the stadium forecourt starting at 16:00 (full details in the matchday info) as well as free tickets for children! On the pitch, too, the clash against the Violets promises plenty of excitement.

For our new signings Abubakr Barry and Haris Tabakovic, the game brings a reunion with old acquaintances. The latter, in particular, will be eager to score his first Bundesliga goal in our colors after netting five times in the Europa League qualifiers while wearing a Red Bulls' jersey - and Sunday offers the perfect opportunity to do so.

Austria Vienna saw their UEFA Conference League qualifying campaign come to an end following a 0–2 defeat in the first leg and a goalless draw in the return leg against Braga. Domestically, the visitors secured their first win of the season about two weeks ago with a 2–0 win over Hartberg, having lost their opening two matches against Wolfsberg (0–3) and LASK (0–2).

We aim to maintain our unbeaten status this season and round off a perfect start with another three points at home - ideally with loud support from the stands! If you don't have tickets yet, you can secure yours here:

The match can also be watched, like all our Bundesliga matches, on OneFootball (with individual match streams and season passes available) except in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the following countries and regions where the following broadcasters show one to three Bundesliga matches per matchday: the Balkan region (Sportklub), Czechia and Slovakia (Arena Sport), Italy (Mola TV), Ukraine (Maincast TV), Russia (TV Start) and Israel (The Sports Channel).

Injury news
  • Soumaila Diabate (thigh), Gaoussou Diakite (thigh) and Johannes Moser (adductors) are unavailable for this match
  • It remains to be seen whether Frans Krätzig (thigh) will be available to play
ViewsIt will be crucial for us to approach this match with a good focus. After yesterday's win, we analysed the Mjällby match this morning and believe we will be facing an opponent with a similar shape and tactical setup. That allows us to build on the things we’ve been doing well recently and improve them further, while also working on areas that need improvement. I expect us to play with dominance and aggression on Sunday, force scoring opportunities, and once again demonstrate a clean-sheet mentality. If we deliver on all those fronts, we should finish the game with three points.

I’d say Sunday’s match isn’t exactly a normal one for me. It’s been a while, but I had a really great time there and made a lot of friends. A lot has changed since then, though - I think there are only three players left from my time there. Nevertheless, I’m really looking forward to the match. As the saying goes before games like this - we’re friends before kick-off. Once the match starts, it’s about points - and about us winning.
