Former Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks shooting guard Jamal Crawford is keen on becoming an NBA coach.

Crawford played for nine different teams in his 20-year career, in which he won three Sixth Man of the Year awards.

His vast experience, ranging from averaging 20 points as a starter to five points off the bench, should help him relate to players.

Crawford has now explained that he could already have landed a coaching role if he had not been busy this summer.

Jamal Crawford has claimed that he rejected three NBA coaching opportunities this summer to watch his son JJ play instead.

The 16-year-old, who will be eligible for the 2030 NBA Draft, won a gold medal with the USA at the FIBA Under-17 World Cup.

Jamal travelled to Istanbul, Turkey, to watch his son compete rather than pursuing his own NBA coaching career.

However, Crawford remains absolutely convinced that he will become an NBA coach sooner rather than later.

“I 1,000% know I’m going to be an NBA coach one day. And I’ve never said that publicly. I just know it,” he told Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady.

“I literally turned down three NBA jobs this summer. So my son made USA, so we’re in Turkey, and I got three offers between assistants and actually going through the process of being a head coach for one of them this summer.

“And I was like, ‘No,’ just the timing, because he is going through his journey. But I know 1,000% once he goes through high school, I’ll be an NBA coach. No doubt about it.”

Crawford will likely accept an assistant coaching role, with the aspiration of becoming a head coach in the future.
