Fiorentina’s Paratici on Kean to Como links: ‘No need to sell’

Fabio Paratici has insisted Fiorentina are under no pressure to sell Moise Kean, amid links to Como, setting out three conditions that would need to be met before any of his players leave the club.

With quotes via Firenzeviola.it, the Fiorentina sporting director was asked about the striker’s situation by DAZN shortly before kick-off against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, and made clear the club are negotiating from strength.

“We have a solid club, we have no need to sell, quite the opposite,” Paratici said.

“We’re alert to opportunities to complete the squad. Our players are only for sale if they ask to leave, if a suitable offer arrives and then if we find a replacement who is equal to or better than him. We’ll see what happens.”

The director was pointed about being asked at all on a matchday. “Today is a matchday and it’s the first game of the season, so we should be enjoying this spectacle,” he said.

“We’re focused on the match, matchday is not the best day to speak about these subjects. We’re used to doing things this way, I see that others aren’t. I see people inserting themselves into these conversations when they could simply wait until the following day.”

Paratici also reflected on his own position, having taken up the role midway through last season.

“It’s my first full season in Florence but I’ve been able to work over these six months, and we’ve changed a lot at club level first and foremost,” he said. “We know it will take a little time to be competitive, but we also know what we want to achieve.”

Asked whether Fiorentina’s ambitions remain intact, he did not hedge. “Of course. We’re a historic club, with thousands of supporters. They deserve this attitude. Then we’ll see how long it takes.”
