Former New York Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke, released by the Giants in March, has finally found a new team. Okereke is signing with the Carolina Panthers.
Okereke signed a four-year, $40 million contract with the Giants before the 2023 season.
Okereke had a career-year in 2023, with 149 tackles, 10 passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, and four forced fumbles in Wink Martindale’s defense. He missed five games in 2024 due to a back injury, and was not nearly as productive the past two seasons.
The 30-year-old Okereke is a former Giants team captain and Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee.
The Giants have rebuilt their linebacking corps with the 6-foot-4, 251-pound veteran Tremaine Edmunds and 6-4, 243-pound No. 5 overall pick Arvell Reese.
Okereke, 6-2, 235 is a good player, but not the thumper or physical presence that Edmunds and Reese are.
Stick with Big Blue View as we detail all the roster moves as the Giants reach the 53-man roster limit by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.
