Former Michigan State QB officially named starter at new school

A former Michigan State football quarterback has formally been named the starter at his new destination.

Former MSU and Oregon State QB Aidan Chiles made the decision to stay in the Big Ten Conference, transferring to Northwestern to play under David Braun and new OC Chip Kelly. On Monday, he was formally named the starting quarterback for the Wildcats.

Coming over to Michigan State from Oregon State with Jonathan Smith, Chiles made 21 appearances for the Spartans in his two years on campus. His stat line included: 320-for-526 passing for 3,808 yards for 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also ran the ball 178 times for 452 yards and nine touchdowns. MSU had an 8-14 record with Chiles at QB.

Chiles will now be expected to make his return to East Lansing on Oct. 17 when the Wildcats face off with the Spartans.
