The streets of the nation's capital and the National Mall will be transformed into an IndyCar race track as part of the latest America 250 celebrations in Washington D.C.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. is set to take place with the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monumental serving as memorable backdrops for the 1.7-mile course layout featuring seven turns. Organizers expect crowds of more than 120,000 each day and the event will cost more than $35 million to stage, according to CNN. U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to be among those in attendance.

The NTT Indy Car Series race is a two-day event being billed as the first motor race to be held near the National Mall, and it's the second major sporting event held in conjunction with the country's birthday festivities. UFC Freedom 250 was also held in June on the White House lawn.

When is the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C.?

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. is a two-day event scheduled to take place on Aug. 22-23 in the nation's capital. Practice runs and qualifying for the IndyCar race will occur on Saturday, Aug. 22, in addition to an International Race of Champions Racing Series (IROC) event. The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. will be held on Sunday, Aug. 23 with the race slated to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. will be broadcast nationally on FOX beginning at 1 p.m. ET, with live streaming coverage available through Fubo.
