LAS VEGAS – Gabriel Lorenco has made headlines as one of the two heavyweight fighters to sign contracts during the current season of Dana White's Contender Series. Following his impressive victory at DWCS 90, Lorenco is eager to face Anthony Wint, the other recent signee, who earned his UFC deal just four weeks earlier.

In his post-fight interview, Lorenco (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) expressed his ambition to make his UFC debut by the end of the year, ideally in December. He specifically called out Wint (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC), stating, "A guy that I thought would be real interesting, I just don’t know his first name, Wint. Anthony Wint. I think it’d be cool matchmaking there. I think it’d be a great fight." This callout reflects Lorenco's admiration for Wint's fighting style rather than any animosity.

Wint, 30, has already made his mark in the UFC, debuting at UFC Fight Night 285 where he showcased his skills by quickly submitting Terrance Chatman (5-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC). Lorenco praised Wint’s aggressive approach, saying, "I like his style. I like the fact that the guy is aggressive. I think it’ll be good matchmaking. Let’s go get in there. If Dana likes the idea, then why not?" This mutual respect between the fighters adds an intriguing layer to a potential matchup.

In his latest fight, Lorenco demonstrated his striking prowess with a powerful looping right hand that marked the beginning of the end for his opponent, Charlie Cleveland (6-2). The bout concluded just 2:02 into the first round after Lorenco unleashed a series of hammerfists, securing his seventh professional first-round finish. His ability to end fights quickly has become a hallmark of his fighting style.

"I’ve had one three-round fight, but I like to do quick work," Lorenco remarked. He emphasized the importance of delivering exciting performances, stating, "It’s shock and awe. You come in here, and that’s what people want. The people want to put on a show. Nobody wants to watch three boring rounds of anything. That’s why we come in here. We come in here to finish the fight. ... Every fight is going to be a show. We’re coming in to do this. We want to make real history here."

With his sights set on making an impact in the heavyweight division, Lorenco is confident in his abilities. He stated, "I think I’m going to make some noise in the division. I think I’m going to knock some people out. I know I’m going to take some people down, and that’s what I think." As he prepares for his UFC debut, a matchup against Wint could serve as a significant milestone in Lorenco's burgeoning career.
