The Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame hosts its annual banquet Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Honolulu Country Club. This year’s honorees are skateboarder Darren Ho, surfer Kelia Moniz, volleyball contributor Beth McLachlin and coaching contributor Tony Sellitto.
>> Ho, inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2025, is the first skatboarder selected to the HSHoF.
>> Moniz won back-to-back Association of Surfing Professionals Women’s Longboard Championships in 2012 and ’13.
>> McLachlin played for the USA Olympic Women’s Volleyball Team from 1969 through 1976 after her career at the University of Hawaii. She was the first Rainbow Wahine to receive an athletic scholarship and spent decades of service to education and athletics.
>> Sellitto is the only basketball coach in state history to win both a high school state championship and a college national title, leading Maryknoll to a state championship in 1984 and Hawaii Pacific to the NAIA national championship in 1993.
