Iowa basketball releases full 2026-27 nonconference schedule

With Iowa basketball's 2026-27 season now just about two months away, the Hawkeyes released their full nonconference schedule on Thursday.

Iowa will play eight games inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena, two neutral-site games in Des Moines and one in Sioux City during its nonconference slate. Iowa’s lone true road game will be played in Cincinnati on Nov. 20 against Xavier. 

Iowa opens the season with consecutive home contests, facing Lipscomb (Nov. 3) and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 6) in Iowa City before playing back-to-back neutral site games against Virginia Tech in Sioux City on Nov. 10 and Creighton in Des Moines on Nov. 15.

After the Nov. 20 road game against the Musketeers, the Hawkeyes will face UMBC (Nov. 24) and Prairie View A&M (Nov. 28) around the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Hawkeyes will play a pair of yet-to-be-released Big Ten contests in early December before hosting rival Iowa State for its marquee nonconference home date on Dec. 10. Iowa owns a 48-31 all-time series lead over the Cyclones, but the Hawkeyes have dropped each of the past three meetings.

Iowa then closes out its nonconference schedule with games against Western Illinois (Dec. 13) and Bethune-Cookman (Dec. 17). The team’s final neutral site contest will be against Alabama at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines on Dec. 21. Iowa then wraps its nonconference slate with a home game against South Dakota on Dec. 29. 

The complete schedule, along with times and TV information, will be announced once finalized.
