Jemele Hill ruthlessly snaps at Boomer Esiason’s ‘jealous’ take on DiJonai Carrington

Jemele Hill couldn’t stand Boomer Esiason’s statement about Chicago Sky star DiJonai Carrington.

DiJonai Carrington’s ejection for a flagrant 2 foul against Sophie Cunningham during the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever battle has turned into a major WNBA controversy.

A key reason behind that is Carrington almost immediately writing ‘white privilege’ on social media without any further explanation. The Sky star has since explained her comments.

However, analyst Boomer Esiason wasn’t convinced by her defense and passed a ‘jealous’ judgment on her.

As highlighted by Awful Announcing on X, Esiason went off on Carrington’s foul on Cunningham, and labeled it a ‘targeted attack’ on the Fever star.

Esiason’s ruthless analysis didn’t sit well with Jemele Hill, as the former ESPN analyst snapped back at him on X.

“I’m sure he’s never spoken to a current WNBA player, but he’s ecstatic to push the narrative that black players are jealous of white players with no evidence.

“When white WNBA players compete hard against black players, they are celebrated, and it’s just considered good ball. When black players do it, they’re jealous and hateful,” Hill wrote on X.

But the former ESPN journalist wasn’t done, as she further explained what Carrington meant by her ‘white privilege’ comments.

“THAT is the white privilege DiJonai was talking about — the lack of consistency in reaction and sometimes, punishment,” Hill concluded.

Days after Carrington’s foul on Cunningham, the conversation is no longer about basketball as experts and fans alike have shifted it to a discussion about race.
