Jorge Masvidal says things are trending in the right direction for his UFC return.
Masvidal (35-17 MMA, 12-10 UFC), who retired after dropping his fourth straight fight to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in April 2023, has been in talks for a comeback to the octagon for a while now. The 41-year-old revealed in March that the UFC prevented him from competing on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card on Netflix this past May since he's still under contract.
"Gamebred" provided a positive update as he continues to target a former rival whom he never got to settle his beef with.
"I've been talking to the UFC," Masvidal told MMA Junkie. "Could be this year, could be early next year. We've been talking for a little bit, and the numbers are getting closer and closer and better and better. So there might be some big news coming soon. Nothing worth mentioning yet, waiting for the right names and stuff. Once they give me the right name and the right number attached to that, you'll see your boy right back over here at the T-Mobile Arena. Leon (Edwards) is definitely somebody that I would like to get back in (with) and just close that chapter out."
