Maxence Lacroix has said he can’t wait to start a ‘beautiful season’ with Chelsea this evening.
Chelsea make the short trip to Fulham for their Premier League opener on Monday night, in the first fixture of Xabi Alonso’s reign.
Lacroix is set for his Chelsea debut at Craven Cottage, with the Frenchman one of several new arrivals this summer, having signed from Crystal Palace in a £52m deal.
The centre-back made his first appearances for the club in pre-season and said he can’t wait for more opportunities in a Chelsea shirt. He’s predicting a strong season, beginning with tonight’s West London derby.
“I really enjoyed my first game,” said Lacroix to chelseafc.com.
“I really enjoyed wearing the Chelsea jersey and also being in front of the fans. It was a good moment and we got a win, which was perfect for me!
“I think everyone is looking forward to Monday and we have a big season in front of us, and it’s starting in just a couple of days.
“Of course, I know all about London derbies and Fulham. I knew them also with Palace, but I know that now with Chelsea, with this big club, it’s also totally different, and I’m looking forward to all these derbies.
“The big message for the fans is that it’s going to be a beautiful season and we need you with us so we can enjoy it together.”
