Andoni Iraola takes charge of Liverpool at Anfield in a competitive fixture for the first time this afternoon as the Reds play host to Nottingham Forest.
The Basque’s reign officially began with a 2-2 draw away to Newcastle last Sunday, with the visitors ultimately grateful for the point which was secured by a 99th-minute Dominik Szoboszlai penalty.
Today they take on a Forest side who’ve won on their two most recent visits to L4 – whereas a 1-0 triumph in September 2024 proved anomalous in our title-winning season, the 3-0 romp last November triggered boos from home fans at full-time as the pressure piled on Arne Slot.
The Garibaldi are now under the stewardship of Oliver Glasner, who oversaw three wins (including one on penalties) against Liverpool last term and has triumphed twice at Anfield before. However, his current side have begun their campaign with home defeats to Leeds in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

Liverpool starting XI to face Nottingham ForestIraola has made two changes from the team which started against Newcastle.
Alisson Becker continues in goal, with an unchanged back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet and Milos Kerkez ahead of him.
Alexis Mac Allister comes into the starting XI alongside Szoboszlai in midfield, with Ryan Gravenberch dropping to the bench.
The other change sees Victor Munoz come in for his first Premier League start as Rio Ngumoha has to be content with the place among the substitutes on his 18th birthday. Cody Gakpo starts on the left flank, with Florian Wirtz playing just behind target man Alexander Isak.
