Mark Mitchell reportedly applies for admission to Kentucky

The Kentucky basketball program, along with all of Big Blue Nation, is officially on Mark Mitchell watch. After being granted a fifth year of eligibility by a Kentucky court, he entered the transfer portal and will likely decide on a destination soon.

Now, just a few days after being given that fifth season, there may be some movement on that front. Per a report from Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, Mitchell has submitted his application to Kentucky.

That news is certainly good for Kentucky fans, but it's not an indication that he has committed. His agent has stated that his recruitment is still open, and Mitchell himself hasn't made any announcements. However, the deadline to apply was on Monday, so this was necessary in the event that he chooses the Wildcats.

It's also important to note that even if Mitchell does commit to Kentucky, there are still things to be resolved. The NCAA is likely to appeal his court victory, and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey is also making clear that he sides with the NCAA.

For now, fans will remain on alert. It doesn't mean that Mitchell is a Wildcat yet. However, it's certain a step in that direction.
