Alabama will be turning to a new quarterback this fall in redshirt freshman Keelon Russell.
The 19-year-old Russell beat out Austin Mack for the starting quarterback job in Tuscaloosa, meaning he'll officially fill in for 2025 starter Ty Simpson in the Alabama offense this fall.
Who is Russell? Well, he's a five-star recruit from Duncanville, Texas, who operated as the third-string quarterback last fall for Alabama behind Simpson and Mack.
Russell played in two games last fall and threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 17 yards on three attempts.
Now, he'll hold the most important football job in the state of Alabama outside of coach Kalen DeBoer.
When does Alabama start the season? The team plays at home against East Carolina on Sept. 5 at noon ET.
