Millwall goalkeeper Lukas Jensen will be out for a “considerable period” after suffering a quad injury in training ahead of Saturday’s 5-1 defeat at Southampton.
Jensen missed most of last season and is now set for another spell on the sidelines.
“We lost Lukas Jensen yesterday,” Neil told Southwark News.
“He was doing a goal kick, pulled his quad, so he’s going to be out for a considerable period.”
The injury could force Millwall back into the transfer market for another goalkeeper, with Neil admitting it was a possibility.
“Potentially. I’m not sure because he’s not going to be back anytime soon,” he said.
Millwall were also dealt another injury concern late on in the defeat to Southampton when Luke Cundle was taken off on a stretcher.
“I don’t know what the issue is,” Neil added. “But he couldn’t come back on, so it’s a problem.”
Reflecting on the defeat itself, Neil said: “Now, we had enough opportunities at the start of the game to put ourselves in a good position. We’d had a good opportunity right before half-time to put ourselves in a good position.
“When you play a good team that’s clinical like they were today, it can give you a bloody nose, and that’s what happened.”
