The Los Angeles Rams held a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday as they continue to prepare for the 2026 NFL season. Unfortunately for fans, star defender Myles Garrett was held out as a precaution while he deals with swelling in his knee.
While Garrett was unable to suit up, he spent the day being an ultimate teammate, supporting his guys in their first contact with a real opponent. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spoke about the practice, stating he could hear Garrett loud and clear.
"I definitely heard him out there," Prescott told ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.
Prescott also said that due to Garrett's absence, the Cowboys removed some of the protections they planned to run against the two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
Rams head coach Sean McVay could not confirm whether Garrett was talking trash, but he did compliment his overall demeanor and value that go beyond his jaw-dropping play.
“I love players in general," said McVay. "I'm just such a fan of the game so whether it's their coaches, their players, our guys, this is out here and this is fun in those types of settings. Like I said, we're just trying to be able to learn, but I don't know if Myles was talking stuff. I think he was having some fun. He's such a good teammate. I just love his overall vibe out on the grass.”
The Rams have one more joint practice scheduled with the Saints this preseason, with that session on Aug. 20 potentially serving as Garrett's first real look against an opponent since his move to Los Angeles.
