On Wednesday evening, the Nuggets were a part of a multi-team trade that involved trading away 2022 first-round pick Peyton Watson.

They now have a void to fill after losing Watson, who was a restricted free agent this offseason.

They seem to have a plan, though, and are in talks with a six-time All-Star player to come to Denver next season.

NBA insider Brett Siegel reported that the Nuggets "have been in talks with DeMar DeRozan and are determined to get a deal done."

DeRozan was waived by the Kings last month and remains a free agent looking to find a team to play for next season.

He's yet to win an NBA championship, and there are several contending-level teams looking to add the 37-year-old on a cheap deal.

DeRozan doesn't need to be a top option on whatever team he signs with, and a fit in Denver could work out well.

He still averaged 18.4 points last season and is one of the most consistent mid-range shooters in the game.

If Denver can get DeRozan on a minimum contract, it seems like a low-risk no-brainer move for the Nuggets to make, as they seek a bounce-back season after last year.
