Grégoire Coudert (27) has joined Burnley from Stade Brestois on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee, as confirmed on Wednesday.
Last season, Coudert enjoyed a breakthrough campaign. Brest had signed Radoslaw Majecki on loan from AS Monaco. The Polish goalkeeper was brought in to be the No.1 but failed to convince in the opening weeks of the campaign. As a result, Coudert, the long-term No.2 option at the Breton club, was brought in. Having been given his chance, he did not give Majecki a route back into the team and so saw out the season as Brest’s No.1.
The hierarchy was not expected to change going into this season, however, he informed the Breton club’s hierarchy of his desire to depart, one year ahead of the expiry of his contract with Les Ty-Zéfs. His exit has now been confirmed and he has joined EFL Championship side Burnley on a permanent deal. The Frenchman has signed a four-year deal with the Clarets.
