As the 2026 football season approaches, Oliver Ames High School is looking to capitalize on the experience and leadership of its senior players. Head coach John Sperrazza is particularly excited about the contributions of senior captains Aiden Dale and Aiden Ayoub, who, despite not sharing a last name, are often viewed as two peas in a pod on the field.
Both Dale and Ayoub are integral to the Tigers' running game, known for their physical playing style and resilience. Coach Sperrazza noted their ability to minimize mistakes, stating, "They don’t really make the same mistake twice." This reliability is crucial for a team aiming to improve upon last season's 3-8 record, which included several narrow losses that could have swung the other way with a bit more experience in high-pressure situations.
Joining Dale and Ayoub in the backfield is Ryan Loring, another senior who has been a starter throughout his high school career. Loring brings a unique blend of speed and power, which he hopes to leverage to turn close games into victories. Reflecting on last season's disappointments, he stated, "I want to take those games and use that as fuel." The senior class comprises 18 players, with over 80 percent having either been multi-year starters or having gained significant playing time. This level of experience is expected to translate into competitive performances, particularly in the latter stages of games. Ayoub expressed confidence in their ability to close out tight contests, saying, "If we get any close game coming into the second half or fourth quarter, we can put ourselves in a position to win."
In addition to the strong backfield, Oliver Ames will field an all-senior offensive line this season, which is another significant advantage. The starting five—Kyle Melendy, Logan Franzoni, Nate Hanson, John David, and Billy Vendt—have been working together throughout the preseason, building chemistry and understanding. Ayoub praised the offensive line, stating, "I trust this line the most out of all my years here."
