Phenix City Little League Ready for Showdown with California

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WRBL) — The Phenix City 12U All-Stars have turned in a memorable season, claiming a state title, battling through the Southeast Regional, and punching their ticket to Williamsport.

The Southeast opened its Little League World Series run against the Northwest, falling 2-0. While the bats were held in check, the story of the game unfolded on the mound. Kinley Rasmus, who has emerged as one of the tournament's biggest stars, struck out eight batters, tying Mo'ne Davis' record for the most strikeouts by a girl in a single Little League World Series game.

That brings us to tonight's matchup between Phenix City and California, the representatives of the West Region. While this isn't the path Phenix City envisioned when its Little League World Series journey began, the stakes are now simple: win and advance, or lose and head home.
