The Los Angeles Rams shutout the New Orleans Saints 34-0 in Week 2 of 2026 NFL preseason. Stetson Bennett got the majority of the snaps under center for the Rams and navigated the offense that included three rushing touchdowns, two by Bennett himself. The Rams kept their starters away from action in typical Sean McVay action; allowing for the bottom half of the roster to fight it out for the remaining spots on the 53 man roster. Who helped themselves going into the final week of the preseason? Here are this week’s winners and losers…
Winner: Stetson Bennett, QBBennett wasn’t exceptional considering he was 19/31 for 181 yards but he showed value with his legs; scoring a pair of touchdowns. Bennett didn’t hurt himself with his performance against the Saints which helps his standing of being on the 53 man roster but also staying as Matthew Stafford’s backup going into the regular season.

With Stetson Bennett getting the bulk of the snaps against the Saints, this naturally makes Simpson a “loser” for this week. This doesn’t mean Simpson performed poorly. He didn’t. It just means that he still has to dethrone Bennett for the backup job. And at this point, every snap and rep matters for Simpson’s development.
Winner: Jarquez Hunter, RBWith Dean Connors having a strong Week 1 performance and applying some heat to the RB3 role, Hunter needed a good performance against the Saints. He rushed 12 times for 68 yards and 1 touchdown. It was a huge stock up for Hunter, who averaged 5.7 yards per carry.
Winner: CJ Daniels, WRDaniels had a quiet Week 1 but showed up in Week 2. He hauled in 8 receptions on 13 targets for 68 yards. It was an encouraging sign to see Daniels get the bulk of the targets; signaling that the organization wants to see his ability.
Winner: Offensive LineThe Rams threw the ball 43 times and the back up offensive line did not allow a sack. In addition, the OL gave the ground attack lanes throughout the game; generating 151 yards (5.0 yards per rush).
Winner: Cam Lampkin, CBLampkin has been pushing to make the 53 man roster with a strong training camp. He helped himself this week with 6 tackles (2 solo) while adding a pair of pass deflections.
Winner: Al’zillion Hamilton, CBI don’t think Hamilton will make the roster but I think he’s going to find his way onto an NFL roster. He grabbed an interception and led the Rams defense in tackles with 6 (4 solo).

Grabbing a pick 6 and taking it back for 100 yards is a good day in anybody’s book. Cook, who joined the team midway through training camp helped his stock tremendously with the splash play. He does have familiarity with Jimmy Lake, the Rams defensive backs coach so maybe he is acclimating quicker than expected.

No one besides Jarquez Hunter and CJ Daniels stood out. Jordan Waters was fine but nothing that is going to allow him to leapfrog other running backs on the roster. Players like: Brennan Presley, Dean Connors, Alex Bachman, Tyler Scott, Tru Edwards, and Dan Villari were minimal contributors and will likely get cut and added to the practice squad.
