The Philadelphia Phillies won their ninth straight game on Sunday thanks to a dramatic comeback in the final frame.
Trailing 4–0 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and a lone man on base, the back end of the Phillies’ lineup rallied. After a J.T. Realmuto single, a Justin Crawford walk, an Edmundo Sosa double, and a Bryan De La Cruz single, the game was tied with slugger Kyle Schwarber stepping up to the plate.
Schwarber has hit more home runs than any player in baseball this season, and added one more to his total with a walk-off exclamation point to end the night.
It was an electric moment of baseball, and the call was even more electric in Hindi.

That is MLB India’s Manish Batavia and Aayush Sharma calling the action on ‘Bases Covered Live’ for Star Sports 2 Hindi. The broadcast was one of several games produced by MLB Network as a part of the league’s expanded effort to build a presence in India.
As with any thrilling sports moment, you don’t need to understand the language to appreciate the passion behind the call. Plus, it turns out “Schwarbomb” in Hindi is still “Schwarbomb.”
It’s also worth checking out the Phillies home broadcast call of the play by Tom McCarthy, who was similarly electric watching the monster dinger, which he noted was the first walk-off home run by the Phillies in three years.

It may sound like a cliche to say that sports can transcend barriers of language, but moments like this make the truth of the statement abundantly clear.
