Rams release first unofficial depth chart of preseason

The Los Angeles Rams will play their first preseason game of the summer on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Starters aren't expected to play, but backups will get valuable playing time as they not only fight for roster spots, but positioning on the depth chart.

On Wednesday, the Rams released their first unofficial depth chart of the preseason. There are no real surprises on it, especially considering these usually aren't put out by the coaching staff or front office. At backup quarterback, Stetson Bennett is listed ahead of Ty Simpson, as expected. At tight end, there are four co-starters.

On defense, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson are the top cornerbacks, with Josh Wallace and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. backing them up; Cam Lampkin is a third-stringer on this depth chart. Grant Stuard and Shaun Dolac are the backup inside linebackers behind Nate Landman and Omar Speights.

On special teams, the Rams list Xavier Smith as the primary punt returner and Jordan Whittington and Ronnie Rivers as kick returners. Konata Mumpfield, not Kyren Williams, is the second punt returner.
