Anthony Davis has been one of the more interesting players to follow since he was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2025 to the Dallas Mavericks. He has since been traded again, this time to the Washington Wizards, leaving his long-term future up in the air.

Davis is trying to determine whether Washington is the right place for him long term. He has already said that he believes he and Trae Young could help turn things around for the organization.

“I’m sure that they want to win as well. Nobody wants to lose … I know we have a lot of young guys, but like I said, I mentioned it about the young guys, how talented they are. Adding Trae and myself kind of can help change that,” AD told ESPN.

For now, the Wizards and Davis have agreed to wait and see how the beginning of the season plays out before making a decision on his future.

“The Washington Wizards and Anthony Davis' agent, Rich Paul, have mutually decided to wait on talks for a potential extension until after the season starts, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania. One source told Charania that this gives both sides the first 20 or so games to marinate over a potential extension and see how the early part of the season goes for the Wizards and for the 10-time All-Star,” ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk wrote.

If the season gets off to a poor start, Davis could once again find himself on the trade market. SI’s Blake Silverman believes the Houston Rockets could emerge as a potential destination.

“Anthony Davis is the one big fish still out there that teams could chase. A trade partner would just need to be able to stomach the enormous amount left on his current contract. With Dybantsa in the mix and Sarr’s continued development, an AD trade makes sense should Washington not see the star big man as part of its plans for the long haul,” Silverman wrote.

Davis joining the Rockets would be a massive move and could make Houston a legitimate contender in the Western Conference. Pairing Kevin Durant with Davis would give the Rockets a formidable duo capable of carrying the team deep into the playoffs.

Davis has made $364 million throughout his career. If the Wizards struggle out of the gate, there is a legitimate possibility that they could explore a trade involving their star big man. If Houston ultimately became the destination, it would be a season-altering move for both franchises.
