Rutgers football recently released a Know Before You Go article and video regarding the fan experience for the upcoming season, and it included a few changes to the traditional gameday operations.
One of the biggest changes announced in the article is that Johnson Park will no longer be a parking option under the school’s new parking plan. Johnson Park is the park that stands between the south gate of SHI Stadium and the Raritan River. The article does not include Johnson Park in the parking plan and states that the park will no longer be an option.
Another big change that was announced was that there will be a new shuttle that takes fans from the outer Busch lots right to the stadium and vice versa.
“Rutgers will operate a courtesy shuttle on the Busch campus to serve fans parking in the outer lots. Shuttle bus pickup begins three hours before kickoff between the Purple and Black Lots on the corner of Brett Road and Bartholomew Road, and it will drop fans off near Athletes Glen. The shuttle will run for one hour following the game. Rutgers will continue to provide ADA shuttle service as in years past, with pickup locations at Jersey Mike’s Arena, the Busch Student Center and Lot 53,” said the athletic department in the release.
Rutgers will also now start offering a range of cocktail options in addition to a few new can options at the games as well. These will include Margaritas, Moscow mules and rum punches. The new cocktails will be available behind sections 105, 108, 113, 117 and 122. They have also added Spikeade’s and Sun Cruiser’s to their canned alcohol lineup. A new concession stand titled Behind Enemy Lines in section 110 will have local New Jersey-brewed beers and one beer from the opponent’s home state.
