We're officially in the middle of the training camp edition of the Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff. With fans needing to wait only 32 more days until the Steel City brand of football returns when the Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13, we'll take a look at the most recent and best players to ever wear No. 32.

Best No. 32 in Steelers history: RB Franco Harris

When it comes to No. 32, there's no debate: the greatest all-time wearer in Steelers history is running back Franco Harris.

Harris, drafted by Pittsburgh with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 1972 NFL Draft, made a huge impact early, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year for his 1,235-yard and 11-touchdown season in 1972. And who could forget his role in the "Immaculate Reception" that very year?

During his 12-year career with Pittsburgh, Harris produced 14,234 yards from scrimmage and 100 total touchdowns, as well as owning the Steelers’ career rushing records of 11,950 yards and 91 touchdowns.

Franco’s Italian Army will be the first to tell you how successful he was throughout his Steelers career, with the talented running back being named to nine Pro Bowls, earning one First-Team All-Pro selection, two Second-Team All-Pro selections, and winning four Super Bowls, as well as being named Super Bowl IX MVP. But his achievements went beyond on-the-field performances, as he was also recognized with the 1976 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

Harris was named to the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team, the Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team, and the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990. Harris, who passed away at 72 years old in 2022, is without a doubt the best No. 32 in team history and will live on forever in the hearts of Steelers Nation.
