Steelers HC Mike McCarthy drops major hint about QB plan for preseason finale

Will Howard and Drew Allar played massive roles in the Pittsburgh Steelers' preseason game against the New York Jets, while Mason Rudolph and Aaron Rodgers sat out of the action. Well, Mike McCarthy apparently has similar intentions for the preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills.

In a pregame interview, McCarthy revealed why the decision was made to have Howard and Allar play so much against the Jets, while also hinting at a similar plan for next week's matchup against the Bills.

“We just felt this opportunity alone to play these young quarterbacks, that’s the primary focus for us really coming out of the offseason program,” McCarthy said. “We’d like to do it this week and probably do the same thing next week.”

Howard and Allar didn't exactly fare well against the Jets in the last preseason matchup, but a lot of the blame can be placed on the offensive line's inability to protect the young quarterbacks.

Here's to hoping the Steelers make the necessary adjustments heading into the preseason finale against the Bills.
