Tarik Skubal clearly hasn't lost his affinity for Detroit. After getting emotional following his trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this month, Skubal made his first start at Comerica Park as an opponent, and he felt all the feels.
The Detroit Tigers played a pregame tribute video for Skubal, and fans gave the two-time Cy Young winner a standing ovation by the end of it. Skubal clearly appreciated the love as it brought him to tears as he walked to the dugout.

— Jomboy Media (@JomboyMedia) August 28, 2026It was all business once the game began, though. Skubal struck out seven while allowing only four hits and one earned run over six innings pitched. His numbers have slightly dipped with his change of scenery, but Skubal still boasts a 3.00 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across five starts with L.A.
Skubal spent the first seven years of his career with the Tigers, developing into one of MLB's most dominant starting pitchers. While he'll have a better chance to contend for the World Series in Los Angeles, he's not forgetting his Detroit roots.
