Texans' wide receiver room a concern after Jayden Higgins' torn ACL

The Houston Texans have had some bad luck at the wide receiver position in the past couple of years, and now things have gone south once again.

Second-year wide receiver Jayden Higgins went down with a lower-leg injury during a red-zone drill in a joint practice against the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL insider for ESPN and NFL Network Ian Rapoport has confirmed that Higgins appears to have a torn ACL.

There was some optimism after Higgins walked off the field under his own power without needing a cart, but the news that has been confirmed isn't what Texans fans wanted to hear.

The wide receiver position group has dealt with numerous injuries to Tank Dell and Nico Collins and is now also dealing with Jaylin Noel, who has been out with a finger and hamstring injury. At full strength, the Texans looked to have a very deep wide receiver room, but will now navigate the holes that may need to be filled.

As for Higgins, he had been rumored to take on a much bigger role this season, after catching over 40 passes last year for 500 yards and 6 touchdowns. Names like Xavier Hutchinson and Tank Dell will be called upon in an offense that will rely heavily on the pass, as C.J. Stroud will also be under the microscope this season.
