The Celtics are preparing to roll out their new look rotation this year, consisting of new additions as well as players who have been in Boston but are now playing a bigger role this upcoming season.

Boston has the potential to convert this roster into a winning one, and if they can have a positive season as a core, they'll be in good shape heading into next season for one specific reason.

Having a young roster is good for Boston, as a lot of the players are on cheap or affordable contracts. In addition to that, next season (2027-28), almost every important rotation player will be under contract.

This means if the Celtics choose to run it back with a very similar group, they have the power to do so.

Of course, they can fine-tune things and make trades/signings, but they can plan for those situations, knowing there's less unpredictability with no major players set to become RFAs or UFAs.

Paul George is the biggest name in Boston who may become a free agent if he declines his $56 million player option, but that wouldn't be the end of the world if it happens.

After him, Luka Garza and Mike Conley are the next most notable names who will be UFAs, and although they may have a role on the team this year, those aren't detrimental losses to have if they choose to walk.

They will have options on Hugo Gonzalez and Baylor Scheierman, but both are set to be on team options, which again gives Boston the steering wheel for what way they choose to go with two more of their players.

We're still months away from this mattering, but the front office will have definitely noticed this trend by now, and could see it as a chance for Boston to capitalize and make a run at a title this season or the next one.

For now, the current core will look to build chemistry and gel early on to see what their ceiling looks like as a group, in an NBA that's set to be very competitive starting this Fall.
