Two-A-Days 2026: Wynot Blue Devils

SIOUX CITY, IA (KCAU) - It was a season for the history books for Wynot football after taking home the program's first-ever state title, with the Blue Devils ready to hit the road to repeat as they're up next for Two-A-Days.

Wynot returns plenty of its championship crew, starting with 1,000-yard rusher Lane Heimes. The senior also led the team with 119 tackles.

The Blue Devils will look for their receivers to replenish the output from the graduated Kotner Koch, who reeled in 1,046 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Wynot says they're embracing the pressure of being the defending state champs, but are focused on the task at hand.

Senior linebacker Cash Lenzen shrugged, saying, "Everybody is looking to beat you. Even the teams you beat every year. They think they got a shot just because you won it last year."

"We just have to adapt to the kids we have this year. We just graduated eight great seniors. So we got to adapt to the new year, and we are going to make adjustments where needed. We are going to take a lot of the same things we did but also adjust according to players to what makes us a better team," added head coach Steve Heimes.

Wynot begins the campaign at home against archangels catholic on August 28th.
