Fans only need to wait 15 more days until the Steel City brand of football returns when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13. In the spirit of the countdown to kickoff, we'll take a look at the most recent and best players to ever wear No. 15.
Steelers current No. 15: WR Ben SkowronekSkowronek, a special teams ace for the Steelers, is the No. 15 wearer on the roster.
Last 5 Steelers to wear No. 15- Ben Skowronek, 2024-present
- Cody White, 2021-2022
- Demarcus Ayers, 2016
- Justin Brown, 2014
- Willie Reid, 2006-2007
No. 15 may not be the most storied jersey number in Steelers history, but the greatest wearer is quarterback Mike Kruczek.
Kruczek, who was selected by Pittsburgh with the 47th overall pick in the second round of the 1976 NFL Draft, served as the Steelers' backup quarterback during the late 1970s.
An interesting fact is that Kruczek won six consecutive starts in place of an injured Terry Bradshaw. Although he didn't throw a touchdown in his NFL career, he earned two Super Bowl rings during his four-year Steelers tenure.
For his role as a solid backup quarterback during one of the greatest eras in franchise history, Kruczek deserves to be recognized as the best Steeler to ever wear No. 15.
