Aug. 28—BROOTEN — Holly Breitbach takes over one of last season's top Class A programs.
Breitbach, who is replacing Brittany Borgerding as head coach, will seek a second consecutive state tournament appearance with the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa volleyball team.
BBE, which earned a third-place finish in the Class A state tournament, was the Central Minnesota Conference champion with a 7-0 record and ended 2025 with a 26-7 record.
Nearly everyone is back for the Jaguars, but they have graduated significant contributors.
At the top of that list is Kacey Fischer, the former two-time captain and outside hitter who was a two-time All-Area selection. She knocked down a school-record 1,144 kills in her prep career and is currently a freshman at the Division III Concordia College-Moorhead.
McKenna Lieser, a former versatile three-year starter who was an All-Central Minnesota First Team as a libero last season, and Kadynce Haider also highlight the key losses for BBE.
Although one Fischer has departed, another is back and will quarterback the Jaguars' attack.
Who? That's senior Kamie Fischer, an All-Area Honorable Mention who has more than 1,000 career set assists.
"Kamie is a three-year setter who brings experience and consistency," Breitbach said. "She is a natural leader on the court and her ability to read defenses opens up opportunities for her teammates to score."
Also back is Teagan Dingmann, who will return to her familiar spot — the middle of the court.
"Teagan is coming into her fourth year as a starting middle blocker," Breitbach said of Dingmann, a senior who put together an All-Central Minnesota Second Team season last year. "Her ability to effectively read both hitters and setters creates an effective defense and puts her team in a strong position to succeed."
Macey Roering, a junior outside hitter who was an All-Central Minnesota Second Team pick a season ago, will play on the outside and look to pace BBE's offense alongside Kamie Fischer.
Lieser will be replaced by Makenna Roelike, who will help anchor the Jaguars' back row.
"Makenna is a strong defensive player who never fails to bring a positive energy to the court," Breitbach said. "Her teammates can always rely on her to have their back."
