Aug. 28—BIRD ISLAND — The BOLD volleyball team was one of the top teams in Section 2A in 2025, reaching the section's final four. The Warriors went on to lose to eventual section champ Cleveland.
Led by last season's top hitter in the West Central Conference, BOLD hopes to make another deep run and, potentially, a push to a section championship.
"I think we should be very competitive this season," said Warriors head coach Brian Kingery, who is 31-23 going into his third season. Assistant coaches are Leigh Ann Snow and Lauren Schaub.
Kingery continued, "We are athletic and scrappy, which will allow us to be very good defensively. We also have very capable hitters at all spots this season."
That begins with 5-foot-6 junior outside hitter Lilly Henriksen. She was the West Central Conference's Outstanding Hitter after tallying 309 kills, 304 digs, 23 ace blocks and 16 ace serves.
She's joined up front by a pair of seniors. There's 5-8 setter/right-side hitter Kenley Elfering and 5-9 middle blocker Lucy Remer.
Two more junior starters return to the fold with 5-7 outside hitter/right-side hitter Kaitlyn Flann and 5-5 setter Kyleigh Snow.
Players to watch this season, according to Kingery, include senior right-side hitter Tiana Clanton, senior defensive specialist Jasmine Dahl, junior middle blocker Abby King, sophomore outside hitter Ema Flann and sophomore libero Elin Elfering.
The group will try to replace a pair of all-conference players lost to graduation in libero Kya Elfering and middle blocker Mercedes Gasca.
The Warriors' goal is to improve on their 18-11 record in 2025, including 5-7 in the West Central Conference. From there, the push for Section 2A begins.
"Our conference is very tough year in and year out and we are hoping to finish in the top three this season," Kingery said. "In the section, we lost in the sub-section championship and we are looking to go further this season.
"It should be a fun and exciting season for the BOLD Warriors."
