Aug. 28—CLARA CITY — Things are going to look a bit different for the MACCRAY volleyball team.
Superstar talents Brielle Janssen and Emma Thein have both graduated from its roster.
Janssen, both a three-time Class A All-State and All-Area selection, piled up 1,942 kills, 1,153 digs, 264 total blocks and 101 ace serves in her career. She is set to be a Maverick and play Division II women's basketball at Minnesota State University-Mankato this season.
Thein, a two-time All-Area and one-time Class A All-State pick, finished her career with 1,324 kills, 987 digs, 196 ace serves and 41 total blocks.
The two helped the Wolverines go 9-2 in the Camden Conference and 24-8 overall last year.
"We lost two big hitters who were predominant scorers," MACCRAY head coach Tory Brouwer said. "The girls have put work in to get better and it has shown throughout the summer."
Brouwer's squad does retain one senior who is already a college commit entering this year.
That is Mia Post, a 5-foot-4 libero who is committed to play Division II women's volleyball at the University of Sioux Falls. She capped off her junior season with All-Camden honors.
"Mia is a defender who reads well and covers a lot of the court, both defensively and in serve-receive," Brouwer said.
MACCRAY will also lean on seniors Sam Hultgren and Eva Swenson and junior Ruby Hultgren.
Sam Hultgren, a 5-7 setter, is coming off an All-Camden junior season. Swenson, a 5-10 middle blocker/outside hitter, was an All-Camden Honorable Mention a year ago. Ruby Hultgren, a 5-10 middle blocker/outside hitter, will seek to fill the production left behind by Janssen and Thein.
