Vote in the Marion Star Football Player of Week 1 Poll now

High school football season in the Marion area is underway.

Week 1 games were held Aug. 21, and there were some impressive performances recorded by athletes.

To recognize the top performers, we are offering the Marion Star Football Player of Week 1 Poll. Fans may vote as often as allowed for their favorite among the nominees. Voting at MarionStar.com and its app will end at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Here are the nominees:

Marion Star Football Player of Week 1 Poll

North Union's Nickolas Hajjar threw for three touchdowns and ran in two more during a win over Pleasant.

Marion Harding's Marcus McGary ran for 97 yards including the game-winning touchdown from 23 yards out with 2:50 left in the game against Mount Vernon.

Northmor's Jackson Welch made 11 receptions for 182 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Upper Sandusky.

River Valley's Carter Myers caught six passes for 114 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Bloom-Carroll.

Highland's Kane Stover put up 17 tackles and forced a fumble in a win over Fredericktown.

Elgin's Abram Norton completed 11 of 15 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 54 yards and a TD in a win over Arlington.

Cardington-Lincoln's Laythan Ralston ran for 216 yards and a touchdown, plus threw a TD pass and made nine tackles in a loss to Wynford.
