Week 1 football roundup: Algonac, Almont, Imlay City and St. Clair all win on opening night

PORT HURON — Here are the high school football results from Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Blue Water Area.

Algonac 20, Clintondale 12

Jaxon Shafer finished 4-for-7 passing for 75 yards and one touchdown to lead Algonac (1-0). He also added 42 yards and one score on the ground. Bolton Reams rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on five carries.

The Muskrats welcome Hazel Park at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Almont 14, Marysville 13

Almont (1-0) heads to Armada at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Marysville (0-1) visits Port Huron at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Imlay City 14, Flint Powers Catholic 7

Imlay City (1-0) travels to Richmond at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.

RED HAWKS RALLY: Port Huron opens with double-OT win at the Big House

St. Clair 56, Hazel Park 0

Jaxon Turnbull totaled four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) for St. Clair (1-0). Defensively, Evan Salisbury returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown. Zachary Thuston and Wyatt Smith each caught an interception as well.

The Saints visit Eastpointe at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Petoskey 35, Croswell-Lexington 8

Cros-Lex (0-1) hosts Macomb Lutheran North at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Redford Thurston 14, Port Huron Northern 10

Jordan Ban ran for 48 yards and one touchdown to guide Port Huron Northern (0-1). Joey Lincoln had two catches for 48 yards. Landon Thomas added a field goal.

The Huskies head to Romeo at 7 p.m. on Sept. 4.

Swartz Creek 48, Yale 45

Yale (0-1) visits North Branch at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.
