A Wisconsin father is under fire after he ran onto the field and tripped a nine-year-old football player during a game.
The 41-year-old man, who has not been publicly identified, received a citation from Mount Pleasant, Wis., police for disorderly conduct and was released from custody, according to CBS affiliate WDJT-TV.
The man told authorities that he tripped the young athlete because he was “upset with a play.”
In a cellphone video obtained by the news station, the man is seen running onto the field during the 10-U youth football game between the Racine Eagles and the Milwaukee Colts on Saturday, Aug. 22.
He is seen tripping a Racine player, whose father is the coach, according to Fox affilate WITI-TV. Both fall to the ground.
A short time later, the man was seen driving nearby when he was stopped by officers, who said he was “cooperative” and that he “admitted to the act and acknowledged he was wrong.”

The father and coach of the child involved called the outburst upsetting.
“I was filled with anger, it was disgusting. It was the most cowardly act I’ve ever seen,” Channing Schultz said. “For him to just do it with so much intent and he was committed. No words can fix that at all.”
