The San Francisco 49ers are having a rough start to the week, thanks to their owner John “Jed” York being arrested and found guilty of two misdemeanor charges over the weekend.

According to reports, York, 46, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of engaging in prostitution. Eventually, the charge was amended to misdemeanor disorderly conduct, which York pled guilty to, along with another misdemeanor for possession of criminal tools.

Additionally, York was ordered to pay $1,150 in fines. A phone that was seized from the Youngstown, Ohio native was ordered to be returned to him, while $160 that was confiscated was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

Embarrassing headlines galore

Following news of York’s arrest, social media exploded with ridicule for the longtime businessman.

“We truly don’t even have to ask for entertainment anymore, it just delivers itself daily,” one person said.

“Bet they’re willing to blame some issues on that power station now,” another added.

“The boy who would be King. He’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to 49ers franchise,” a third commenter added.

“John Lynch being woken up by his wife to hear JedYork was arrested for prostitution in Palestine,” a fourth person said.

“Jed is 46 years old so absolutely guaranteed he wasn’t just drinking all night. He had to have some PED’s to stay up that late. So either he was up all night zooted in a trailer park or he woke up and got a hooker sober. I can’t decide what is worse lmao” said former 49ersHub writer Evan Sowards.

“JedYork investing money into Palestine Ohio prostitutes instead of an offensive line to protect his 200M investment,” another 49ers fan chimed in.

What’s next?

As of now, York or the 49ers have not publicly commented on his arrest. As more details leak out, there will likely have to be some acknowledgement of what happened.

Needless to say, this is not what you want to see from your owner ever, let alone less than a month before the start of the NFL regular season.

York has been the 49ers’ chief executive officer since 2008 and became the franchise’s primary owner in 2024. The son of 49ers co-chairs Denise DeBartolo York and John York, Jed York is also a co-0wner of professional soccer clubs Leeds United and Rangers.
