BATON ROUGE – Adding one former NFL player was apparently not enough for Lane Kiffin in his first year with LSU football.
According to a CBS Sports report Aug. 24, Kiffin and his staff are expected to bring in another player that was just recently on the roster for the New Orleans Saints.
Zxavian Harris, the former Ole Miss defensive lineman, is reportedly expected to transfer to LSU and return to college. Harris was one of 16 former college athletes that a Louisiana judge put in place a temporary restraining order to grant them a fifth year of eligibility back on Aug. 21.
Not long after Kiffin met with media member discussing why his program was interested in bringing in players that was granted a fifth year, the news about Harris came to light.
LSU and Kiffin are already bringing former Cleveland Browns and Ole Miss tight end Dae'Quan Wright, who's agents announced Aug. 23 that a deal was in place for Wright to join the Tigers.
The Browns officially waived Wright Sunday and should be go unsigned, Wright will be making his way to Baton Rouge for a fifth year in college.
Harris was an All-SEC defensive tackle in 2025, piling up 58 tackles, including three sacks and nine tackles for loss along with an interception and four batted balls. Harris brings experience to a relatively inexperienced defensive tackle unit.
"We have made a decision to recruit some kids and through these multiple injunctions around the country, a group of players were granted a fifth of eligibility," Kiffin told reporters Monday. "Because of these rulings, they're either going to play for you or they're going to play somewhere else."
