Liverpool's Harvey Elliott has expressed his enthusiasm regarding a prospective transfer from Anfield to Valencia. The 23-year-old appears poised to complete a season-long loan before the 11pm BST (5pm ET) deadline.

The midfielder has yet to be included in a matchday squad for Liverpool under Andoni Iraola. His previous campaign was spent on loan at Aston Villa, though he found playing opportunities limited at Villa Park.

He's now hoping a switch to Spain will provide the platform to showcase his capabilities. Elliott has made the trip to Valencia to finalize the arrangement and has laid out his objectives for the campaign, as per the Liverpool Echo.

"I'm truly grateful for this opportunity," he said upon his landing in Valencia. "I'm going to play my best here.

"I know the club's history and I know it demands a lot of hard work. I'm going to give everything I have for Valencia.

"To be honest, it all happened pretty fast. I was just waiting for the call and made sure I was ready to come here and play, which is exactly what I'm doing. I'm here now and looking forward to the weekend."

He added: "I hope to lead Valencia to European football. As I've said, it's an incredible club and I want to do everything I can for it. I believe that, especially with the team we have, we are capable of achieving it. It's going to be a difficult season, but I'm very confident."

Currently rooted in 16th place in La Liga, the club has yet to register a victory in their three league outings so far. Saturday's 3-1 away defeat to Deportivo continued a troubling run that began with a 0-0 opening-day tie against Celta Vigo, followed by a 1-0 home loss to Real Betis in their second match of the campaign.

Elliott originally joined Liverpool as a teenager from Fulham back in 2019, going on to make 149 first-team appearances for the Reds, contributing 15 goals and 21 assists along the way.

However, the young midfielder has found himself sliding down the depth chart in recent seasons. While he remains contracted at Anfield until 2028, Liverpool may look to extend that deal in order to protect his transfer value.
