A high school football player in Wisconsin has died after injuries he sustained while playing in a game Thursday, Aug. 20.
Adam Massman, a senior at Alma Center Lincoln High School, which is about 45 minutes southeast of Eau Claire, died after the game, according to a statement that was sent to Lincoln High School families by District Superintendent Drew Semingson. Lincoln's game was against Turtle Lake.
"Adam was active in our Lincoln community, participating in multiple sports, clubs, and activities making friends everywhere he went," Semingson said in the statement. "This loss touches our Lincoln family in many ways. Adam’s family has deep connections throughout our schools."
The statement said that EMT were onsite at the game and Massman was taken to the hospital. The statement didn't say what type of injury Massman sustained. Semingson didn't say what type of injury it was, saying the district is only releasing information approved by the family.
According to the statement, Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School is open to students, parents and friends if they need to meet with counselors, and counseling support would be available Monday, Aug. 24, at noon through Tuesday.
